Developmental Classes for Young Children

Our classes for beginners provide correct technical progressions for growing minds and bodies. Through class performances and preparation for our annual production, students gain self confidence and poise while developing artistry and a joy of dance.

Pre-Ballet

Designed for: New students ages 6-8 and qualified returning students
Class length: 45 minutes
Class description: Pre-Ballet is our formal introduction to the study of ballet. The class incorporates basic ballet steps and French terminology into the curriculum. Students learn a series of warm-up and conditioning exercises as well as the formal use of the ballet barre for technical development.

We highly recommend this class in conjunction with Tap/Jazz and Introduction to Hip Hop.

Tap/Jazz

Designed for: New students ages 6-8 and qualified returning students (for Creative Movement graduates)
Class length: 45 minutes
Class description: Tap/Jazz builds on motor skills introduced in Creative Movement; focusing on beginning tap skills while introducing the “razz-a-ma-tazz” of jazz dance. Students learn tap and jazz conditioning warm-ups, and focus on the technical development.

We recommend taking Pre-Ballet and Intro to Hip Hop in conjunction with this class.

Introduction to Hip-Hop

Designed for: New students ages 5-7 and qualified returning students

Our Intro to Hip-Hop class teaches age appropriate moves and combinations to introduce children to this exciting and fun discipline.
